(UPDATED) Syma Drone Troubleshooting (Why, How to Fix)

Problem 1: Syma drone not syncing.

Often. Syma quadcopters not connecting to the controller because of insufficiently charged batteries, and an unpaired controller to the quadcopter.

Solutions.

  • Charge the Syma quadcopter and controller fully or to a sufficient level before a flight. 
  • If the quad is blinking pair the controller to the Syma quadcopter. Push the left throttle up and wait until the controller beep and the quadcopter’s LEDs are solid Else blinking Turn on the Syma drone then hold the right trim on the remote until the quad stop blinking it may take about 30 sec to reset the link.

Problem 2: Syma drone camera not working.

In most cases, the Syma drone camera not working or not showing the video feed because of the outdated Syma app, app glitches, circuit issues, and crashes.

Solutions.

  • Clear cache and app data of the Syma app.
  • Uninstall the current Syma app on your phone. Uninstall the Syma app on your phone and install the current updated version of the Syma app.
  • Repair the drone. If you crashed recently, the Syma drone circuit or the camera might have been damaged. So it’s better to meet professionals to repair the drone.

Problem 3: Syma drone not connecting to wifi.

Usually, Syma drone won’t connect to wifi because of wifi glitches, or mobile application issues. Also if you have paired the drone to another device recently, it also would cause this issue.

Solutions.

  • Restart the mobile device and try again.
  • Turn on airplane mode and turn off it. When you turn on airplane mode, it would completely shuts down the network on your device. Then when you turn on it again it would try to detect the new devices and reconnect them.
  • Enable Networking and Wireless option. Go to Settings, Privacy, Location Services, and system services on your device. Then enable the networking and wireless option. If it’s already enabled, disable it and enable it again.

Problem 4: Syma app not working.

In most cases, the Syma app not working and responding because of an outdated Syma app, incompatible mobile device, or installing an Apk file with glitches.

  • Check your smartphone is compatible with the app. 
  • Clear the cache data and app data of the Syma app. Go to Settings > Apps > Syma app and clear cache data and app data.
  • Uninstall the app and install the current version of the app. If the currently installed app or its settings might have bugs. Therefore first uninstall it and install the app again instead of just updating it.

Problem 6: Syma drone not calibrating.

Solutions.

  • Calibrate the drone on a flat surface. When you are calibrating the drone you definitely have to use an entirely flat surface. If you are attempting to calibrate the drone on an uneven surface it will lead to calibration failure or faulty calibration results.

Problem 7: Syma drone not charging.

Usually, Syma drone refuses to charge because of damaged battery cells, faulty or broken charger, or low amperage and voltage.

Solutions.

  • Check whether the charger is Faulty or broken. Inspect whether the charger output amperage and voltage satisfy the required inputs for the battery.

Problem 8: Syma drone not working.

Usually, the Syma drone not working or not turning on because of low battery power, damaged battery cells, or circuit failures.

Solutions.

  • Charge the drone battery to sufficient level before turning on.
  • Replace the battery. If you are noticing swelling or some damage to the battery replace the battery.
  • Repair the drone. If you crashed recently, the Syma drone circuit has been damaged. So you would have to take help from professionals to repair the drone.

Problem 9: Syma drone propeller not working.

Sometimes, Syma quadcopter’s some propellers are not working because of misalignment between motor gear and propeller gear or loss of one of them. Tangled motors, battery issues or damaged wires also could this kind of situation.

Solution.

  • Check whether the motor gear is missing. Uncover the drone safely and check the gear section of the malfunctioning propeller. If you notice one of the gear is missing, check inside the drone for that popped gear. If you found it, install it gently and align it with other gears. If you lost a gear you would have to buy new gear. Usually, they are not expensive.
  • Look for damaged, shorted wires. If you encounter ripped or shorted wires, repair them.
  • Replace the motor. If the motor is clear and not spinning, the motor may have been damaged. So you have to replace them.

Problem 10: Syma drone is unstable or flies sideways.

The main reason for the instability of the Syma quadcopter is miscalibration. Besides that, malfunctioning motors, short wires, and distorted propellers cause the issue.

  • Calibrate Syma quadcopter. Turn on the quadcopter, pair it to the controller, and leave it on a flat surface. Then pull both controller sticks to the right bottom corner to calibrate the drone.
  • Replace propellers with a new set of propellers if some are distorted.
  • Inspect gear system of malfunctioning propellers. If the quadcopter is still unstable after calibration, then there might be a misalignment in the gear system. Uncover the quadcopter and check whether all the gears connected with the motor are perfectly aligned.
  • Replace malfunctioning motors. If the quadcopter is still flying sideways or unstable, some motors might malfunction. Try replacing motors spinning low rps.
