Why DJI Air 2s Is Not Moving Sideways?
Before going through the steps to fix this DJI Air 2s issue, let’s have a brief look at the causes for the DJI Air 2s not moving sideways issue.
1. Turning on the “Disable Sideways Flight” option accidentally.
This is the major reason for this issue in most cases. Many users have turned on the “Disable Sideways Flight” option accidentally or in vain and face this issue. Once that option is turned on you won’t be able to fly the Air 2s sideways anymore.
2. Glitched or outdated DJI Air 2s firmware.
DJI Air 2s’s firmware is the software that is responsible for managing and controlling the aircraft’s actions and data. So once the firmware is glitched or outdated, the aircraft would malfunction and could face this kind of issue.
3. DJI Fly app glitches.
As I said before, most of the time DJI Air 2s not moving sideways because of turning on the “Disable Sideways Flight” option. So if the DJI Fly app is glitched, it could malfunction and enable this kind of option.
4. Damaged or faulty DJI Air 2s unit.
This could be the worst reason that causes this issue. If you experience this behavior after a crash or on the first flight, there is a chance that you face this issue because of a damaged or faulty DJI air 2s unit.
How to fix DJI Air 2s not moving sideways issue.
Next, we are going to go through the step-by-step process of fixing the DJI Air 2s not moving sideways issue.
1. Restart the Air 2s.
Before going to advanced troubleshooting steps, let’s restart the aircraft and check whether the issue is fixed. Once the aircraft is restarted it would erase all the temporary settings and data. So if the Air 2s not moving sideways because of temporary faulty settings this could help with troubleshooting.
2. Turn off the “Disable Sideways Flight” option.
As I mentioned before, many air 2s users face this issue because of enabling this option. So I have a big hope that this step would help with troubleshooting the issue.
- Open the DJI Fly app and enter the camera view.
- Tap on the 3 little dots in the upper right corner of the fly app.
- Then go to the “Safety” tab and check whether the “Disable Sideways Flight” is turned on.
- If it is turned on, turn off the option.
3. Update the DJI Air 2s firmware.
Glitched or outdated firmware could malfunction the system and could cause this kind of issue. So It’s good to always have the latest and properly installed air 2s firmware. So next we would update the air 2s firmware and check whether the problem is fixed. Make sure to use DJI Assistant 2 PC application to update the firmware.
- Visit the DJI Download center. Then download and install DJI Assistant 2 to the PC.
- Make sure the aircraft and remote controller are fully charged.
- Connect Air 2s to the PC using the USB cable.
- Then power on the DJI Air 2s.
- Open DJI Assistant 2 application and log in to your DJI account.
- Choose DJI Air 2s and click on the “Firmware Updates” on the left panel. Then click on the “Upgrade” option.
- Click on “Start Update”.
- Wait a few minutes until the firmware is downloaded and installed. Once the aircraft’s firmware is updated, follow the same steps with connecting the remote controller to the PC and update its firmware too.
- Then power on the air 2s and check whether the issue is fixed.
4. Contact DJI Support.

If you are still unable to fix the issue, there is something wrong with the hardware of the DJI Air 2s unit. It could be an issue with the remote controller or aircraft.
