Before I walk you through step by step process of fixing this issue, let’s have a quick brief talk about the causes of DJI fpv not bound to phone number issue.
1. DJI Fly app glitches.
As I mentioned before, this is the major reason for the issue in most cases. Also If you have installed an outdated DJI Fly app could cause this issue. When the DJI Flp app is glitched or outdated, you could expect this kind of issue. In the next section, we would go through step by step process of the proper DJI Fly updating process. So at the end of this article, you would be able to fix the issue.
2. Faulty cache data.
DJI Fly app’s faulty cache data also could cause this issue. So clearing those cache data could help with fixing the issue. But don’t do it right now. Because In the next section we would guide you in step by step to fix this issue (including clearing cache data).
3. Temporary glitches.
Sometimes, this issue could be an effect of temporary glitches. So restarting the DJI FPV unit could troubleshoot the issue.
How to Fix DJI FPV not bound to phone number error.
This step-by-step process would fix the causes of the issue and in the end, troubleshoot the DJI FPV not bound to phone number error. So follow step by step without skipping any step.
Step 1: Restart the DJI FPV unit.
As I said before this also could be just a temporary system glitch. So first, let’s restart the DJI FPV unit and check whether the error is gone. Rebooting the unit would clear the current temporary settings and data (including faulty data and faulty settings). Therefore if you are having this issue because of that kind of temporary effect, restarting the unit would fix the issue.
- Shut down the whole DJI FPV unit including the aircraft, goggles, and controller.
- Also restart the mobile device to clear DJI Fly app temp data.
- Then power on the DJI FPV drone and wait 1-3 minutes to connect satellites.
- Then power on the remote controller.
- After that connect the phone to the goggles. Then check whether you are still getting the error.

Step 2: Clear cache data of the DJI Fly app.
Next, we are going to clear the cache data of the DJI Fly app which also could be a reason.
- You can clear DJI Fly app cache data by going Profile -> Settings -> Clear Cache. Clear Video Cache, WebPage Cache, Flight Records Cache. Clear them even though it says zero.
Also if it didn’t help with clearing app clear data and you are an Android user, try clearing the app cache through settings as mentioned below.
- Go to the “Settings” menu of your device.
- Then scroll down and tap “Apps”/”Applications”. All the installed apps would be displayed on the screen.
- Then scroll down and tap on “DJI Fly”.
- You might see the option to “clear cache” option. If it is tap on that and clear the cache.
- If you see the “Storage” button, tap on that and then you would find the option to clear cache data.
Step 3: Uninstall the DJI Fly app and Power the whole FPV unit off.
Before uninstalling the DJI Fly app be sure to log out from your DJI account. Once you logged out from the account uninstall the DJI Fly app on your device.
Then power off the whole DJI FPV unit including aircraft, goggles, and controller.
Step 4: Disconnect the phone from the goggles and Redownload the DJI Fly app.
Next, we need to download the DJI Fly app without connecting to the goggles.
- Visit the DJI Fly app’s page of the DJI Downloads center.
If you are an IOS user,
- Tap on the IOS icon and the app would be open in Appstore. Tap on “GET” button and install the app.
If you are an Android user,
- Tap on the Android icon and the apk file would be downloaded to the mobiles downloads directory.
- Go to your downloads directory and click on the downloaded file.
- Then follow the simple steps prompted from the device and install the app.
Step 5: Create a dummy DJI account.
Right now, we need to use a dummy DJI account to use login DJI Fly app. So use a different email and create a new account and log in to that account.
Step 6: Turn on the DJI FPV unit.
Power on the DJI FPV unit properly as mentioned below.
- Turn on the drone and give it 1-3 minutes to connect all satellites.
- Then turn on the controller.
- Then turn on the goggles and connect to the mobile device.
Now you see your phone is bound to the aircraft and you won’t see any error message. This is a good sign but we are not done yet. Let’s move to the next step.
Step 7: Clear all cache data again.
Follow the same steps mentioned in step 2 and clear DJI Fly app cache data again.
Step 8: Log out from the DJI Fly app and uninstall it.
I know it’s annoying to repeat the same steps again but trust me and do these steps again.
- Disconnect the phone from the goggles and log out from the DJI Fly app.
- Then uninstall the app.
- After that turn off the whole DJI FPV unit including the aircraft, goggles, and controller.
Step 9: Download and Install the DJI Fly app again.
- Visit the DJI Fly app’s page of the DJI Downloads center and download and install the DJI Fly app as explained in step 4.
Step 10: Log in to the DJI Fly app using the original DJI account.
This time you need to log in to the DJI Fly app using your original DJI account that connected with your DJI FPV.
- Launch the DJI Fly app and log in using your original DJI account.
- Then power on the drone and wait for 1-3 minutes to connect satellites.
- Power on the controller.
- Power on the goggles and connect the phone to the goggles.
Step 11: Celebration.
Now you wouldn’t see any “DJI FPV not bound to phone number” error. Now you can fly your DJI fpv without any limits.
