(UPDATED) Parrot Mambo Troubleshooting (why, How to Fix)

Parrot Mambo mini drone is the cutest mini drone ever from Parrot. When I was researching some drone issues, I found that there are many problems related to the Parrot Mambo and people are asking for solutions.

So I decided to find almost every issue with Parrot Mambo and research how to fix those issues and write a simple article that would help to troubleshooting Parrot Mambo Problems.

Common Problems With Parrot Mambo.

  • Problem 1: Parrot Mambo not taking off.
  • Problem 2: Parrot Mambo not connecting to the controller.
  • Problem 3: Parrot Mambo not connecting to the app.
  • Problem 4: Parrot Mambo camera not working.
  • Problem 5: Parrot Mambo battery not charging.
  • Problem 6: Parrot Mambo one propeller not working.

Problem 1: Parrot Mambo not taking off.

Most of the time, Parrot Mambo won’t take off because of installing propellers in improper patterns. In that kind of situation, the Mambo aircraft would be unable to take off even if its propellers are spinning. Other than that insufficient battery power, unpaired mambo aircraft, and outdated firmware could cause the problem.

Solutions.

  • Charge the Mambo to a sufficient level before the flight.
  • Install Parrot Mambo propellers in the correct pattern. Install white propellers to the forward motors and black propellers to the backward motors of the Parrot Mambo.

Problem 2: Parrot Mambo not connecting to the controller.

Usually, Parrot Mambo is not connecting the controller due to insufficient battery power, outdated Bebop firmware, and faulty aircraft or controller settings.

Solutions.

  • Charge the Mambo aircraft and controller fully or to a sufficient level before a flight. 
  • Check whether the Mambo is on the latest firmware. Else upgrade its firmware to the latest version.
  • Reset Parrot Mambo. To reset the Parrot Mambo turn on the Parrot Mambo minidrone, and wait for the LEDs to turn green. Then press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Once you have done that, forward LEDs will turn red alternatively and start blinking. Hold the power button pressed until the LEDs turn green.

Problem 3: Parrot Mambo not connecting to the app (Freeflight Mini).

In most cases, Parrot Mambo won’t connect to the Freeflight Mini app because of wifi connection issues, outdated or glitched Freeflight Mini app, and outdated firmware.

Solutions.

  • Reset Parrot Mambo. Switch on the Parrot Mambo minidrone, and wait for the LEDs to turn green. Then press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. The two LEDs turn red alternatively and start blinking. The frequency of blinking increases indicating the last stage of the reset process. Keep the Power button pressed until the LEDs turn green.
  • Update Parrot Mambo firmware.
  • Clear Freeflight Mini app cache and app data.
  • Restart the mobile device.
  • Update the Freeflight Mini app. If you have an outdated Freeflight app, it could be the issue. So update the Freeflight app, if available.

Problem 4: Parrot Mambo camera not working.

Most of the time, Parrot Mambo mini drone camera issues are caused by firmware glitches and Freeflight Mini app glitches.

Solutions.

  • Update Parrot Mambo Firmware.
  • Clear the Freeflight app cache and update the app. Glitched or outdated application settings can cause Parrot Mambo camera glitches.
  • Reset the Parrot Mambo Aircraft. Resetting the aircraft would be a great way to clear the current glitched setting on the aircraft. Switch on the Parrot Mambo mini drone, and wait for the LEDs to turn green. Then press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. The two LEDs turn red alternatively and start blinking. The frequency of blinking increases indicating the last stage of the reset process. Keep the Power button pressed until the LEDs turn green.

Problem 5: Parrot Mambo battery not charging.

Usually, the Parrot Mambo battery won’t charge because of a faulty battery or insufficient output amperage and voltage of the charger.

Solutions.

  • Plug the Parrot battery charger into a power outlet with the required voltage and amperage. Usually, the Parrot Mambo battery charger requires DC 5V voltage and 2-4 A amperage.
  • Check whether the charger is Faulty or broken. Measure the charger output amperage and voltage and check whether they satisfy 4.35V and 3A(Max).
  • If the Mambo battery is warm, leave it an airflow to cool.
  • Update Mambo Firmware.

Problem 6: Parrot Mambo one propeller not working.

Usually, the Parrot Mambo propeller not working because of misalignment between motor gear and propeller gear or loss of one of them. Tangled motors, battery issues or damaged wires also could this kind of situation.

Solution.

  • Check whether the motor gear is missing. Uncover the drone safely and check the gear section of the malfunctioning propeller. If you notice one of the gear is missing, check inside the drone for that popped gear. If you found it, install it gently and align it with other gears. If you lost a gear you would have to buy new gear. Usually, they are not expensive.
  • Look for damaged, shorted wires. If you encounter ripped or shorted wires, repair them.
  • Replace the motor. If the motor is clear and not spinning, the motor may have been damaged. So you have to replace them.
