(FIXED) DJI Mavic Pro Battery Not Charging Or Working (Why, How to Fix)

I think this is a frustrating issue a Mavic Pro user could face. Because once the DJI Mavic Pro battery not charging or working, it’s useless and you would have to buy a new battery. But most of the time, this issue can be fixed with just by few steps without any battery replacement. (except if the battery hasn’t swollen).

Therefore I thought it would be helpful if there is an article explaining those steps to troubleshoot this issue. So In this article let’s see how you can fix your DJI Mavic Pro battery not charging or working issue. Hope this would help Mavic Pro users who are struggling with this issue.

Causes of DJI Mavic Pro battery not charging or working.

Most of the time, the DJI Mavic Pro battery won’t charge and work because its BMS (Battery management system) has shut down due to power failures. Besides that hibernation mode, faulty batteries or faulty BMS and swollen battery cells also cause this issue.

1. Battery BMS shutdown.

This is the reason for this issue in most cases. When your Mavic Pro battery’s power has gone below a certain limit or faced a power failure, it would shut down the BMS (Battery Management System) for safety purposes. So once the battery’s BMS is shut down, you can’t use the battery again without any PF flag clearing.

2. Hibernation mode.

Hibernation mode is designed to save the battery from damage due to the power drain. So if you have stored the battery for a longterm and face this issue when trying to use it again, the battery might have gone into hibernation mode. This is a normal situation and easy to fix.

3. Faulty battery management system (BMS) or damaged battery cells.

If the Battery management system (the circuit connected to the battery) is faulty it won’t be able to manage charging and other activities related to the battery. Also if the battery cells are damaged, the battery won’t work or charge anymore. In this kind of situation, we need to request help for a repair or replacement. (we would talk about that)

4. Swollen battery.

If your battery is swollen and started to get this issue, replace the swollen battery. Because swollen battery could explode inside the drone and would cost the amount drone. So it’s advisable to replace the battery.

How to Fix DJI Mavic Pro battery not charging or working issue.

Now it’s the time to walk you through step-by-step fixing the DJI Mavic Pro battery issue. If your battery is not swollen, most likely you going to troubleshoot the issue at the end of these steps.

(Important!) Replace the battery if it’s swollen.

As I said before, if your Mavic Pro battery is swollen, you have to replace it. Because now it is dangerous to use or mess with that. So battery replacement would be the advisable step to take if your Mavic Pro battery is swollen.

If your Mavic Pro battery is not swollen, let’s see how you can fix your Mavic Pro battery issue.

Step 1: Bring out the battery of hibernation mode.

If you left the Mavic Pro battery depleted or stored for a long term, it would enter hibernation mode to save the battery from damage due to power drain. In this state, you can’t manually turn off the battery power LED. If you can’t turn off your Mavic Pro’s LED after turning it on, your Mavic Pro battery also has gone into hibernation mode.

  • Power on the battery and leave the battery unattended for 5 minutes. Then the power LED would turn off.
  • Then recharge the battery and bring it out from hibernation mode.

Step 2: Clear PF flags and recover the DJI battery.

This step is a little bit techy and you have to deal with the Mavic pro battery management system (BMS). So if you are not comfortable with that, it’s better to get help from someone who is good at it.

In this step, we are going to clear PF flags that usually cause this issue and recover the battery. Many users were able to recover their Mavic Pro battery by clearing PF flags.

For this step you need,

  1. BQ Studio software.
  2. EV2300 EVM interface board (Buy on Aliexpress).
  • Uncover the Mavic Pro battery shell.

  • When inspecting the EV2300 interface board, you would see ports named SMBD, SMBC, and GND. Now we need to connect them by soldering connection cables connected to those ports to the Mavic Pro’s BMS (battery management system).

Make sure to connect the EV2300 ports with the correct Mavic Pros battery’s BMS port.

  1. SMBC -> SCL
  2. SMBD -> SDA
  3. GND -> GND

If the DJI Mavic Pro battery still doesn’t charge or work even after following the above steps, the battery BMS or cells might be faulty. To fix that we have to request a repair online from DJI. I have written a whole detailed article about how to request a repair online from DJI. That article will instruct you to send the battery to DJI and repair or replace the battery through DJI.
