Common Parrot ANAFI Problems And How to Fix Them!

The Parrot Anafi is one of the best drones that Parrot presented to the drone community. Also, I found that there are some common Parrot Anafi problems many users have faced.

So in this article, we are going to talk about common Parrot Anafi problems most of the users have faced and how to fix them. Hope this article would be helpful for Anafi users to fix their issues with the drone.

Common Parrot Anafi Problems.

Problem 1: Parrot ANAFI won’t take off.

Usually, Parrot Anafi won’t take off if the propellers are installed to the Anafi in an arbitrary way. If you haven’t installed propellers to the Anafi in the correct order, the Anafi won’t take off even though the propellers are spinning. 

Solution: Install propellers to Parrot ANAFI properly.

  • Install A-type propellers to the front-left and back-right arms.

Problem 2: Parrot ANAFI battery not charging.

As I found most of the time, Parrot Anafi battery charging issues are caused by firmware issues. So wait for the debugged or new firmware and update the firmware to the latest firmware.

Solution 1: Update the battery firmware.

  • Insert the faulty battery inside the aircraft.
  • Power on the Parrot Anafi aircraft.
  • Then go to the wifi settings of your smartphone and connect to the Anafi drone.
  • Launch the Freeflight6 application on your smartphone and click on the drone icon on the Freeflight6 app home screen.

  • Tap on the green button on the right to update the firmware to the latest version.

  • Then wait until the “Firmware Download”, “Sending to Drone”, and “Update and Reboot” steps are ticked.

  • Once you have done that, the Parrot Anafi firmware (including battery firmware) is updated successfully.

Problem 3: Parrot ANAFI GPS failure.

Most of the time, Parrot ANAFI GPS issues are caused by firmware issues and Freeflight app issues.

Solution 1: Update the Freeflight 6 app.

  • Install/Update the latest FreeFlight 6 app from Appstore (IOS users) or Playstore (Android users).

Solution 2: Update the Parrot ANAFI firmware.

  • Launch the Freeflight6 application.
  • Tap on the RC icon on the screen.

Update Parrot ANAFI Drone.

  • Launch the Freeflight6 application on your smartphone and click on the drone icon on the Freeflight6 app home screen.

  • Tap on the green button on the right to update the firmware to the latest version.

  • Then wait until the “Firmware Download”, “Sending to Drone”, and “Update and Reboot” steps are ticked.

  • Once you have done that, the Parrot Anafi firmware is updated.
  • Then tap on the drone icon on the Freeflight6 app home screen.
  • Tap on the green button on the right to update the firmware to the latest version.
  • Then wait until the “Firmware Download”, “Sending to Drone”, and “Update and Reboot” steps are ticked.
  • Then you will be directed to the Magnetometer calibration process. Turn the drone around axes as the Freeflight6 applications ask and demonstrate.
  • Once you have done that, the Parrot Anafi firmware is updated successfully.


Problem 4: Parrot ANAFI gimbal not calibrating.

If your Parrot ANAFI gimbal is not calibrating your Aircraft might have a faulty setting that causes this issue. So according to Parrot’s troubleshooting guide, you can fix this issue by hard resetting the Parrot ANAFI.

Solution: Reset the Parrot Anafi drone.

  • Power on the Aircraft.
  • Wait until the calibration fails.
  • Then press and hold the battery’s power button for about 8 seconds. Once the resetting process started, battery LEDs would start to flash red in sequence.
  • Once the Parrot ANAFI resetting process is done all the LEDs would flash red and ANAFI would reboot by itself.
  • Then check the “wifi_security_key.txt” file on the SD card to confirm whether the operation is succeeded.

Problem 5: Parrot ANAFI doesn’t recognize the sd card.

In most cases, Parrot ANAFI won’t recognize SD cards because of invalid formatted SD cards (different format from FAT32), incompatible SD cards, and corrupted SD cards.

Solution 1: Use a compatible SD card with Parrot ANAFI.

Solution 2: Format the SD card.

  • Connect your SD card to your PC and enter File Explorer.
  • Then right-click on the SD card driver and select the format option.
  • Wait a few seconds until it’s done.

Problem 6: Parrot ANAFI remote controller not connecting to the phone.

Most of the time, Parrot ANAFI remote controller won’t able to connect to the phone when the USB port pins unit is disconnected from the circuit. Usually this could be happen when disconnecting the cable from the port.

Solution: Soler pins to the circuit or do some hack to contact them.

  • Unscrew the remote controller back cover. Then disconnect the battery cable from the circuit.

  • When inspecting the USB pins port, you would see they are loose and disconnected from the circuit.

  • Solder them to board or use a paper roll and tape it to the port as all the pins touching the circuit.

  • Then reassemble the remote controller.
